DC Rajiv Ratan has sacked Anil Kumar, Sarpanch of Ahulana village from his post for allegedly producing fake documents in a case relating to the Right to Information Act.
He directed the BDPO to register a case against Kumar and to ensure that the latter did participate in any meeting of the panchayat. The former was also asked to take charge of the movable and immovable properties as well as panchayat records from Anil and to hand it to an elected member enjoying the confidence of other panchayat members.
State Information Commissioner Urvashi Gulati had imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 on Anil for not providing information by an RTI activist.
Taking notice of the matter, the DC issued a week’s notice to Anil to explain his position. The latter pleaded that he had appealed to the SIC to re-consider her orders. However, he could not produce any document in support of his plea to the DC.
Kumar was asked to appear before the DC for personal hearing but he did not come on the plea that he had been advised rest by his doctors. However, enquiries conducted by the Civil Surgeon stated that Kumar was not given such advice.
