Gurdaspur, August 25

Two persons were killed following a dispute over a dead cow in Simbli village here, the police said today.

The deceased have been identified as Bikramjit Singh (23) and his uncle Satnam Singh (55). Both were shot dead by Bua Singh.

“Bua Singh and his sons Lakhwinder Singh and Dharminder Singh, who also belong to Simbli village, have been booked and charged with murder,” the police said.

The incident occurred yesterday after Bikramjit’s cow died of insecticide poisoning after it grazed fodder from Bua Singh’s fields. When Bikramjit and his relatives went to Bua’s house to demand compensation, he refused. An argument took place, which allegedly turned violent. –— PTI
