Dispute resolution centre opens in Ambala City

Justice AK Mittal of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and executive chairman of state legal services authority inaugurated an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre here today. This is the 17th ADR centre to be established in Haryana. Justice AK Mittal was accompanied by Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Daya Chaudhary.
In his address Justice Mittal said the centre would be helpful in early and peaceful settlement of disputes besides ensuring that no person remained deprived of legal assistance for want of funds.
“Law recognises arbitration, conciliation, mediation and court settlement, including settlement through lok adalats, as the different modes of alternative dispute resolution,” he added. He asked the judicial officials to raise awareness about the ADR centres.
The ADR centre has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1.95 crore. It houses two lok adalats, office of the legal services authority, public utility court, mediation centre, multipurpose hall, arbitration hall and library.
Justice Rajesh Bindal said the ADR mechanism was very effective at the pre-litigation stage.
