District badminton tourney: Simranjit, Mitaksh hog limelight

Ludhiana, August 1

Simranjit Kaur and Mitaksh Gandhi hogged limelight by winning three and two titles, respectively, in the Ludhiana District Badminton Championship 2015-16, which concluded at Shastri Hall, near Guru Nanak Stadium, today.

Simranjit bagged top honours in girls’ singles under-17 and under-19 categories besides women’s singles while Mitaksh stamped his class wrapping up titles in boys’ singles under-17 and boys’ doubles under-19 groups. Lakshay Singla emerged champion in the boys’ under-17 category whereas Hakam Singh won in the under-19 category.

MP Ravneet Singh Bittu distributed the prizes. Bharat Bhushan Aashu, MLA, was the guest of honour. DBA president Mohinder Singh Grewal congratulated the winners.
