Dogra Scouts scale Mt Gya

Kangra, September 30

A mountaineering expedition team comprising 18 members of Dogra Scouts which was flagged off from Himyodha Military Station, Sumdo, by Lieutenant General KJ Singh, Army Commander, Western Command, reached back today.

SN Acharya, Officiating Defence spokesperson, said the team was led by Colonel SS Sharma. The team had scaled Mount Gya, located at an altitude of 6,794 metre from the sea level, the highest peak in Himachal Pradesh on September 8 and 9 from the unexplored Lingti valley route.

Acharya said the grueling expedition involved a trek of 150 km over a period of more than three weeks.

He said the Army Commander commended the achievement of the Dogra Scouts and encouraged them to undertake more such challenging tasks.
