The city police undertook a mock drill to check its preparedness today. An hour-long mock drill was conducted at the ISBT. Various security agencies came together to conduct the drill.

Security personnel cordoned off the area, personnel from the bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) and sniffer dogs were called.

Traffic was diverted at ISBT and Haridwar bypass to other routes. Chaos was seen near ISBT due to diversion of traffic.

Dehradun SSP Pushpak Jyoti said the mock drill was conducted to prepare security forces for crisis situations such as disaster or terror strikes in the city.

He said the drill had been undertaken to evaluate the preparedness of security forces, considering the huge inflow of tourists and pilgrims to the city.

The SSP said suspicious bags containing unconnected wires, batteries and clothes were kept in bags and left in crowded places to check citizens’ alertness.
