Bhai Amrik Singh gets bail
Chandigarh, February 12
The Punjab and Haryana High Court today granted interim temporary bail on medical grounds to Sikh leader Bhai Amrik Singh, who gave a speech that was allegedly seditious.
“The petitioner will surrender before the jail authorities on February 24 at 10 am, subject to final decision in the present bail application,” Justice MMS Bedi ruled.
In his bail plea through counsel RS Bains, Amrik Singh was seeking interim temporary bail on the ground that he was suffering from heart ailment.
Taking up the plea, Justice Bedi observed that Attari DSP has asserted that the petitioner was admitted to the hospital on January 15. “I am of the opinion that, on account of the health conditions, the petitioner can be granted the concession of interim bail. The petitioner is ordered to be released on interim temporary bail till February 24,” Justice Bedi added. — TNS
