City players Ranjeet Singh and Digvijay Singh lost their respective matches of the ongoing ITF Men’s Future Circuit Tennis Tournament being held at the Chandigarh Lawn tennis Association (CLTA) complex in Sector 10 here today. Ranjeet Singh went down in a well settled three-set match 3-6, 6-4 and 6-2 while Digvijay Pratap Singh lost to eighth seed S Mukund 6-2 and 6-3.
Meanwhile, Spanish top seed Enrique Perez Lopez faced tough challenge from unseeded qualifier Jajbir Saran during a main draw match. The top seed named the first set at 6-3 and received a setback in the second set after going down at 4-6. However in the last set, the top seed played well and margin a narrow 6-4 win to claim the match.
In another match, unseeded Korean player Jae Hwan Kim defeated fifth seed N Prashanth. Both the players were playing tied at one set each. However, N Prashanth got cramps and pulled out his name from the match. In another match, eighth seed S Mukund, who had defeated CHART trainee Digvijay Pratap Singh in the first round, defeated Chandril Sood today. Mukund after going down at 2-6 won back to back sets 6-2 and 6-1 to claim his stake in the match.
Meanwhile, seventh seed Riccardo Ghedin from Italy also qualified further after defeating Kelsey Stevenson of Canada in straight sets. Riccardo named the match at 7-6(4) and 6-4. Sixth seed Karunuday Singh also faced some resistance from unseeded Kaza Vinayak Sharma. Karunuday won in three sets at 7-6(3), 4-6 and 6-3. The quarterfinal matches will be played from tomorrow.
