Ex-CM supports Pancheshwar Dam project
Dehradun, October 30
Former CM BS Koshiyari yesterday said the public opinion was in favour of the Pancheshwar Dam, an Indo -Nepal joint venture, proposed to be constructed on the Mahakali river.
Koshiyari’s assertion in favour of the Pancheshwar Dam comes at a time when conservationists are opposing the construction of the dam asserting that the governments were going ahead with the dam with no plans for rehabilitation for those who would be uprooted in the process.
The BJP MP, who was in Nainital, said the Pancheshwar Dam would usher in development and pointed out that rehabilitation was certainly a concern and displaced would be done justice with as in the case of Tehri and Sardar Sarovar Dam projects. — TNS
