Tribal Yuva Manch of tribal district Lahaul Spiti has urged Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) Shimla ADN Vajpayee to open an examination centre for post-graduate classes in the district. A delegation of manch met the Vice Chancellor at Shimla to apprise him of the issue.
President of Tribal Yuva Manch Sudarshan Jaspa said the state government was providing facility to the students of tribal areas to appear as private candidate in higher classes at graduate and post-graduate courses if they are unable to join as regular students in college and university.
“But unfortunately the students were lacking examination centre facility in their own district. Especially when the exam dates are in November and December, they find travelling out of the district tough because of heavy snowfall at Rohtang Pass, gateway to Lahaul Spiti”, he remarked.
“We urge the Vice-Chancellor to look into the matter and open one examination centre for post-graduate classes in the district to facilitate the students”, he added.
