Fire in railway coach near Ambala Cantt station

n A major fire broke out in the 3-tier coach of the Kalka-Sai Nagar Shirdi Superfast Express when it was being washed in the railway yard adjoining the Ambala Cantt railway station on Monday

n The coach was almost destroyed in the fire and another coach was partially affected. No casualty was reported as the train was empty

n A railway employee of the yard detached the coach from the train and prevented to fire from spreading to other coaches. Four fire tenders were pressed into service

n Sources said there was a short circuit in the battery, which caused the fire

n Dinesh Kumar, DRM, Ambala Railway Division, however, said the exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. OC
