Hisar, September 6

The health authorities have sprung into action after the detection of dengue and malaria cases in the district. So far, around 90 cases of malaria have been reported, while five patients have been tested positive for dengue.

Officials of the Health Department said that several teams of the National Health Mission (NHM) and other officials concerned carried out fogging in different areas of the district to check the spread of the diseases.

An official said out of nearly 40 samples, five had been tested positive for dengue. However, the cases of malaria were around 90. “The situation is well under control”, said the official.

District Malaria Officer Dr Jaya Goyal said that several teams were carrying out door-to-door survey to make people aware about the spread of diseases and steps to curb them. “A total 20 field officers and 15 multi-purpose health workers have been assigned the duties to carry out the campaign. So far, nearly 70 houses have been served caution notices after detection of mosquito larva in their houses,” she said in a statement here today.

80 suffer from diarrhoea in Ambala village

Ambala: Nearly 80 residents of Gaganpur village in Barara block of the district have been suffering from diarrhoea.

Sources said leakage in pipeline and lack of chlorination could be the reasons behind the situation.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Vinod Gupta, who visited the village, said: “Nearly 80 people are suffering from diarrhoea. A team of doctors have been sent to the village and they have started a door-to-door survey. The situation is under control. Currently, 12 people are undergoing treatment at the Community Health Centre in Barara, while the others have been sent back after administering medicine.”

Sources said all 15 samples collected by the Health Department today to check chlorine in the water had failed.

Ramesh Kumar, XEN, PWD, said that there was no leakage in the main pipeline. Illegal water connections could be responsible for the situation, he said, adding that these connections were being disconnected and till then, the water supply from the tubewell had been stopped. Two water tankers had been sent to the village, he added.

Barara SDM Girish Kumar directed officials of the public health to conduct a survey and make sure that there was no leakage in the pipeline.
