Solar Home Lighting System would be provided free of cost to the registered labourers of the state. Under the first phase of the scheme, the facility would be provided to around 52,000 labourers registered for the last four years.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nayab Singh Saini while presiding over a meeting of the department here today.
He said under the scheme, portable solar light system of 100 Watt capacity would be provided to labourers. It would include a battery, two LED lights, table fan and a USB kit. The Solar Light System which costs Rs 10,000 would be given free of cost to labourers.
The Minister said the facility would be provided to labourers in a phased manner to realise PM Modi’s vision of Solar India. The scheme would help save 5,200 kW energy, he added. —TNS
