Dr Vandana Shiva, executive director of Navdanya, has said the Gandhian philosophy of Swadeshi and Swaraj has a big relevance in the modern world.

Vandana stated this while addressing the 15th Gandhi and Globalisation course at Navdanya Biodiversity Conservatory Farm at Ramgarh in Dehradun today. She said Navdanya had conserved biodiversity and promoted non-violent means of agriculture to be in harmony with nature and our fellow beings, as preached by Mahatma Gandhi.

PV Rajagopal, Secretary of Gandhi Peace Foundation, Jill Carr-Harris from the Ekta Parishad’s women wing and Dr Madhu Suri Prakash, a recipient of the Eisenhower Award for Distinguished Teaching, who is professor of Education at Pennsylvania State university, are among the faculty of the course. — TNS
