Panchkula, February 5

Now, visitors will get more facilities at General Hospital in Sector 6, here, as the hospital is now trying to achieve a “brand name” which no other government hospital in the adjoining states have, except a few private ones.

To get the National Accreditation Board of Hospitals (NABH) standards, the hospital is all set to face an inspection by a team of the National Accreditation Board of Hospitals, which will visit the hospital on February 7 and 8.

The public address (PA) system has been started in which patients would be called or addressed

by doctors through a mike. A special control room has been set up

in this regard.

“The announcement would be done from the control room,” said Principal Medical Officer (PMO) Usha Gupta.

She said: “In case of any untoward incident, like a child kidnapping, it was difficult to put everyone on alert. We have made teams like code blue or disaster team that will immediately be on alert after the announcement.”

The mortuary has also been given a facelift. There would be new autopsy stations (slabs where bodies are kept) at the mortuary.

Sources said training was being given regularly to the entire hospital staff and mock drills were also being conducted.

“Mock drills to check preparedness to control fire, thwart any untoward incident and tackle natural calamites, besides others are being conducted,” said a hospital official.

Signboards had also been installed at the hospital.

“The NABH standard is the highest which even the PGI or any other government hospital does not have,” added the Principal Medical Officer.
