The Municipal Corporation celebrated ‘Lohri’ on the MC office campus, Sector 17 here today. The celebration was marked with traditional Punjabi giddha and boliyaan by Punjabi artistes.

Mayor Poonam Sharma, MC Commissioner VP Singh, Senior Deputy Mayor Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Deputy Mayor Gurbax Rawat, councillors and officers along with employees of the MC participated in the function.

Earlier, the ceremony of lighting the “Lohri bonfire” was performed by councillors and officers followed by a cultural programme presented by Municipal Corporation employees in the traditional Punjabi touch.

The Mayor said this time the Lohri function was celebrated on the office campus among the officers and all employees of the corporation. She said the celebration was dedicated to the theme, “Say no to violence against women and girl child”.
