Dehradun, September 4
The state government has agreed to provide financial assistance for upgrading the routes for the yearly Sri Nanda Devi Jaat Yatra, which will take place in Chamoli on September 7.
After the successful conduct of the Nanda Devi Raj Jaat last year, the government has decided to promote the yearly yatra that starts from Karnail and Badani villages of Chamoli.
“By focusing on the annual yatra, we will be able to develop the adjoining walking tracks and build infrastructure,” said AP Maikhuri, Deputy Speaker, Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, and president of the coordinating committee of the Raj yatra.
Maikhuri, while addressing mediapersons, said between September 7 and 28, three annual yatras of Nanda Devi would take place – from Sidhpeeth Kurud to Vadhan, from Vedini Kund to Devrada, first phase, then from Sidh peeth Kurud to Valapata and back to Kurud. The second phase of the yatra would take place after six months from Devrara to Kurud.
The arrangements for the yatra will be made with the help of the District Magistrate, Chamoli, and the Shir Nanda Devi Raj Jaat Yatra Vikas Parishad.
