Gurasis bags gold in karate meet

Gurasis Kaur, a student of Delhi Public School, Ludhiana, hogged limelight in an international karate meet held on October 7 and 8 at Batala.

Competing in the U-7 category in the International Shotokai Karate-Do Championship, Gurasis, a Class-I student, stamped her superiority winning gold medal in the kata (movements of karate) and kumite (fight) forms of martial arts. For her achievement, Gurasis was also awarded the best karate trophy.

Gurasis has already carved a niche for herself at the national level as she annexed gold medals in the Sanshinkan Open All-India Karate Tournament held in August at Delhi on the basis of which she was selected to take part in the international competition at Batala.

Prior to this, Gurasis had clinched gold medal in the Punjab State Kanninjuku Karate Championship held in Ludhiana, where she wrapped up the title in the individual category in kumite.

Her outstanding achievement in an international meet at Batala was lauded by the managing authorities of Delhi Public School. Pawandeep Singh Randhawa and Gaurav Sachdeva, coaches at the Sanjay Karate School under whose guidance, Gurasis was able to polish her game and able to secure top honours in a global martial arts competition praised this upcoming star and hoped that she would bring more laurels in the years to come.
