Gurgaon city is now Gurugram

Gurgaon city has now officially been renamed as Gurugram with the Haryana government issuing a notification to this effect.
Though a similar notification for changing the name of Gurgaon district to Gurugram is likely to take some more time, officials in the district have already started using the new name .
“We have started using the new name Gurugram in our official correspondence as well as in oral communication. Most of the people who visit our offices also use the new name now,” said TL Satyaprakash, Deputy Commissioner.
The official website of the district already mentions the name Gurugram though it still opens with www.gurgaon.nic.in. The district police’s website still mentions the name Gurgaon Police though its official twitter handle stands changed to @gurugrampolice.
Sources said that renaming of Gurgaon city and the district to Gurugram are two different issues and there is a different procedure for both.
Sources said the notification for the district is likely to be issued within a week.
