Chandigarh, March 22
Panic gripped passengers of Jet Airways at the Chandigarh airport here today following a bomb hoax.
The Jet Airways flight, which departed from Delhi around 3.30 pm, arrived at Chandigarh at 4.20 pm. As the aircraft landed, all passengers and crew members were deplaned. A bomb disposal squad, anti-sabotage team, fire engines and the police carried out a search operation inside the plane. The luggage of all passengers was thoroughly checked. Due to the checking operation, the flight could leave for Delhi only at 8.05 pm.
Manju, airport manager, said, “There was a delay of only around 20 to 25 minutes due to bomb hoax.”
The Jet Airways call centre today received threats about bombs in five of its aircraft, hours after blasts killed several persons, including two crew members of Jet Airways, in explosions at the Brussels international airport.
