High drama as Mayor’s son flees after road mishap

High drama prevailed at Sector 15 here this afternoon when Mayor Poonam Sharma’s son, who was driving a car, fled after allegedly hitting a car being driven by the wife of a city-based businessman, who is also a relative of the BJP MLA from Ambala City. Though the matter was informed to the police, both the parties struck a compromise later.

Sources said the incident took place at around 1.30 in the afternoon near DAV School when the a Toyota Corolla being driven by Mayor’s son Tarunveer Sharma (18) and a Hyundai Eon car driven by Vanshika Goyal collided with each other.

Ambala City MLA Ashim Goyal is a cousin of Vanishka’s husband Punit Goyal.

Vanishka received minor injuries and her car got damaged in the mishap. Though Tarunveer fled from the spot soon after the accident, the registration number of his car was noted down by someone. The police traced the car soon.

Vanishka was shifted to the GMSH-16. Later, she approached the police to know the status of the case and learnt that the vehicle belonged to Mayor Poonam Sharma, a resident of Sector 21.

Sources said the police did not bring the vehicle being driven by the Mayor’s son till 6 pm. Later, Tarunveer and his father reached the police station, following which both the parties struck a compromise.
