Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) Limited has launched a training programme to impart technical and mechanical skills to Army personnel at its tractor factory in Pinjore to enhance post-retirement employability for them.
During the eight-week programme, the Army personnel will be trained in all aspects of tractor manufacturing, including foundry operations, component manufacturing, assembly, repair and maintenance, painting and inspection.
The training programme for first batch of 15 Army men was formally inaugurated by HMT’s Executive Director, Col KP Mishra today. On the successful completion of the programme, the participants will be awarded certificates.
The skills will enable the participants to seek employment in tractor manufacturing units and their authorised tractor service centres or open their own repair workshops after retirement from the Army.
This initiative has been taken in collaboration with the Army Welfare Placement Node, Chandigarh, for junior commissioned officers (JCOs) and other ranks working in various departments under the Western Command, Chandimandir.
