BMI check-up camp
The Rotary Club Greater Ludhiana organised a free BMI check-up and weight loss camp for morning walkers at the Leisure Valley, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana, on Tuesday. The camp started early in the morning. Chief guest Dr Subhash Batta, Civil Surgeon, Ludhiana, and Amanpreet Singh Arora, president, Rotary Club Greater Ludhiana, inaugurated the camp. As many as 57 patients took the advantage of the camp. Dr Ashish Ahuja, Biateric Surgeon, DMCH, was the chief consultant at the camp. Amandeep Kaur, Dietician, DMCH, gave diet charts to the patients. Dr Subhash Batta said: “It is great initiative by Rotary Club Greater Ludhiana to make people aware of their BMI as many diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, heart problems, etc., arise due to obesity. He congratulated the team of Rotary Club Greater Ludhiana.”
Union plans protests
The Water Supply and Sanitation Employees Union has alleged that the state government had created bad situation in the department by giving it in the hands of private players and contractors. Even after taking loan of crores of rupees, the government had failed to provide water to the masses. Against this, the employees union has decided to hold state-wide protests starting from December 24 at Ludhiana. Effigies of the state government will also be burnt during the protests. — TNS
