Chandigarh, June 29

A fortnight-long theatre workshop, organised by the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi, concluded at the akademi hall here today. As many as 16 young theatre enthusiasts, aged 16 or above, and many well-known artistes from the city were imparted an extensive training under the guidance of Dr Kulbeer Kaur Virk, an alumnus of the department of theatre and television,   Punjabi University, Patiala.

The participants were exposed to theoretical as well as practical aspects of drama, including a detailed elucidation about the Natya Shastra, written by sculpted Bharat Muni, the father of Indian theatrical arts during the Vedic period. They were awarded certificates by Kamal Arora, Chairman of the akademi.  

Theatre workshop

A month-long theatre workshop, organised by the Tagore Theatre Society under the aegis of the UT Department of Cultural Affairs concluded at Tagore Theatre today.  As many as 110 children in the age group of 6 to 12 years attended the workshop, conducted at Tagore Theatre and the community centre in Sector 37. As  many as 18 children trained by Niti Dilawri  staged a play, “Jaduyi Jungle” while others presented a fictional play, “Amar Vastra”, under the direction of veteran actor Kapil Kalyan.
