Muktsar: Even though the Congress has not yet released any list of candidates for the Assembly elections, Muktsar MLA Karan Kaur Brar told her supporters on Monday evening – through a voice message circulated in her official Whatsapp group — that AICC president Sonia Gandhi had allotted her the ticket from her seat. Speaking on the phone, Karan Kaur, daughter-in-law of former Chief Minister Harcharan Singh Brar, said, “The official list will be out on December 11, but my name has been confirmed. Raja Warring wanted the ticket from Muktsar, but Sonia ji refused him and said the ticket would be given to the Brar family.” Indian Youth Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring is the sitting MLA from Gidderbaha, which also falls in Muktsar district. Karan Kaur had contested the 2012 election after the death of her husband, Kanwarjit Singh ‘Sunny Brar’, who was then the sitting MLA. She had defeated SAD candidate Kanwarjit ‘Rozy Barkandi’.
