Dehradun, February 15
As part of the Uttarakhand IAS Association's celebrations for the second day yesterday, instead of jointly hosting a lunch for junior IAS officers, senior officers preferred to host them individually by inviting them at their homes or hotels. Besides lunch, the second day was dedicated to discussing important issues plaguing IAS officers. Junior officers voiced their concern about long and unending working hours, but Additional Chief Secretary Rakesh Sharma said time limit could not be prescribed in situations that the IAS officers work in. Instead, he said they should not be afraid to put in extra hours of work.
The officers also voiced their concern about the cadre posts occupied by non-cadre officers, indicating that they were averse to non-IAS officers, except experts in fields, occupying IAS cadre posts in the state Secretariat.
At the meeting, approval was given to the old executive committee of the association comprising additional Chief Secretary Rakesh Sharma as president, Uma Kant Panwar as secretary and MC Joshi as treasurer to continue.
Later, a meeting of field officers was held with senior officers and Chief Minister Harish Rawat hosted a dinner in the evening.
