The birth anniversary of Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib was observed with religious fervour across the Kashmir valley here today.
Religious gatherings to commemorate the day, which falls on Rajab 13 of the Islamic calendar, were held at several mosques and shrines.
Devotees thronged the revered Hazratbal shrine on the banks of the Dal Lake. The birth anniversary of Imam Ali is mostly observed by the Shiites.
In this connection, J&K Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian (JKASS) led “Mowlood Kabba” at Central Imam Bargah Budgam and Maktab-a-Zehra, Hassanabad, which was attended by a large number of devotees.
The three-day long “seclusion” also went underway for males at Jamia Masjid, Budgam, besides Jamia Masjid, Langerbagh and Hassanabad for females.
JKASS president Aga Syed Hassan Mosavi Alsafvi Najafi addressed devotees at Central Imam Bargah Budgam where he threw light on the life and contribution of Imam Ali.
