A colourful cultural programme was presented by students of National Academy High School on the conclusion of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) metro programme.
The event was organised by IMF North Zone Committee, New Delhi, in collaboration with Tawi Trekkers, J&K.
On the first day, a seminar on “Promotion of adventure” was held at Saigal Hall, Abhinav Theatre. Ajay Khajuria, Registrar, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), and Dr Poonam Sharma of Central University, Jammu, were the main speakers, who gave thought-provoking suggestions on the topic.
Dr Ashutosh Sharma, general secretary, J&K Olympic Association, also expressed his views on the subject. The programme was presided over by S Bhattacharjee, chairman of the IMF North Zone Committee, New Delhi.
On the concluding day, the programme commenced with the conduct of a quiz competition on mountaineering/Himalaya at National Academy High School. Team B of National Academy High School, comprising Karmanya Gupta, Javed Iqbal and Shruti, emerged victorious.
Team-A of Aryan Oriental Convent Higher Secondary School, comprising Renu Sharma, Sadia Mustaffa Bhat and Rohit Sharma, and Team D of National Academy High School, comprising Adil Hussain, Lokinder Singh and Smilee Sharma, secured second and third position, respectively.
In the end, S Bhattacharjee distributed prizes, mementoes and cash prizes among the winners of various competitions.
