India XI and Uganda XI recorded wins in the International Students’ Football Tournament being organised at the Punjab College of Technical Education (PCTE), Baddowal, near here today.
Teams comprising students from Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), GuineaBissau, Angola and India are taking part in the tournament.
In the first match, Uganda XI prevailed overDRC XI 4-2 and thesecond match that was played between India XI and South Sudan XI, the former came out victorious by 2-1.
Addressing the participants, Dr KNS Kang, director general, PCTE Groupof Institutes, said the college had been celebrating the existence of different races and diverse culture through such events for the last one decade which promote the sense of brotherhood and team spirit among the students.
Earlier, Cedrick, a student from DRC and organiser of the tournament, welcomed Dr KNS Kang and wished the students good luck.
