DEHRADUN: The Uttarakhand High Court today gave bail to industrialists Sameer Thapar and Jayant Nanda and nine others who were arrested on the charges of trespass, possessing illegal arms and ammunition in the Lansdowne forest division some time ago.

The Uttarakhand High Court today gave bail to industrialists Sameer Thapar and Jayant Nanda and nine others who were arrested on the charges of trespass, possessing illegal arms and ammunition in the Lansdowne forest division some time ago.

These high profile people were arrested from the Koluchaur forest rest house in the Lansdowne forest division. A German 300 bore automatic rifle, 23 cartridges, expensive telescopes, 167 bottles of foreign liquor and meat were recovered from them. The state Forest Department that went in swiftly for damage control has already ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident. — TNS
