International food chain staff booked for assault

The Mohali police booked a manager and around 15 employees of an international food chain for causing hurt to a shopkeeper in their neighbourhood at Phase X here today.

On the complaint of Harjinder Singh, a case was registered against Anand, the manager of the food chain’s showroom at the Phase X market, and nearly 15 other employees under Sections 323, 324, 452, 380, 148 and 149 of the IPC at the Phase XI police station.

Harjinder Singh, who runs a motor repair shop near the food chain’s showroom, stated that he asked the accused employees not to park their delivery vehicles in front of his shop. He claimed that he had also apprised the manager of it several times but to no avail. “On Wednesday, when I went to the manager for the same reason, he, along with his staff, started thrashing me and my cousin Jasvir Singh, who works with me,” alleged the complainant. — TNS
