The Uttarakhand unit of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) will organise a state-level convention in Dehradun tomorrow to discuss the issues concerning workers and decide future plans.
Congress MLA Heera Singh Bisht, also state president of INTUC, stated this while addressing mediapersons here yesterday.
“National president of INTUC Dr Sanjeeva Reddy will be the chief guest of the convention. He will share his views on the issues of need to increase daily wages, regularisation of the services of contractual employees and problems of anganwari and MNREGA workers,” Bisht said.
The party leaders will also work on a draft of the proposed nationwide strike of the All India Trade Unions on September 2. The anti-labour policies of the BJP-led Central Government had increased frustration among workers and it was now important to agitate against the government. The issues of privatisation, foreign direct investment (FDI) and labour laws would also be raised during the convention, he added.
