IPS officer, kin booked under dowry Act

A case of alleged harassment and torture for dowry has been registered against IPS officer Rahul Malik, his father Ramesh Malik, mother Mamta Malik and younger brother Rohit Malik, all residents of Khera Kalan village in Delhi, in the local women police station. However, no one has been arrested so far.

Bhumika of Model Town here stated in a complaint lodged on June 6 that she was married to Rahul Malik on February 12, 2012 , and a lot of cash , jewellery anad Honda City car was given by her father, Zile Singh Saroha, a retired IPS officer from Haryana.

She alleged that soon after marriage, her husband, Rahul Malik, posted in Jammu and Kashmir and his family members started harassing and torturing her for more dowry, including Rs 50 lakh in cash, a costly car and a flat in Delhi. On July 13, the case was handed over to DSP Bharti Dabas and it was sent to the District Mediation and Conciliation Centre for a compromise.
