Raju, a relative of the victims, said his grandmother died yesterday and all family members had gathered at his house to hold some ritual. “While we were performing the rituals at night, four men in an inebriated state barged into the house and asked us to stop the speaker. When we did not budge, they attacked us with sharp-edged weapons and base bats, in which two family members namely Raj Kumar and Sunny sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment,” he said.

He said they had also informed the Police Division Number 2 about the attack, but to no avail.

Angry over the functioning of the police, residents sat on a dharna outside the police station at 1pm. The dharna was lifted at 3 pm, only after the police arrested the three accused namely Ravinder, Laddi and Sunny involved in the attack.
