ITF Futures: Vijayant enters second round

Former Davis cupper and third seed Vijayant Malik drubbed Ishaque Iqbal 6-2 6-2 to move to the second round of the ITF Men's Futures USD 15,000 Tennis Tournament at the CLTA Complex, Sector 10, here today.
Anshu Bhuyan overcame Australia's Lawrence Bataljin 6-4 3-6 6-4, while top seed Hadin Bava beat Anurag Nenvani 6-3 6-2 in the opening round.
Anvit Bendre, meanwhile, rallied from a set down to upset 12th seed Abhinav Sanjeet 3-6 6-4 6-4.
Second seed Mohit Mayur live up to his billing as he edged past Shashikant Rajput 6-2 6-2. Second round matches will be played on Sunday.
Hooda upsets Malik; Sandeepti beats Priyanshi
Second seed Krishan Hooda upset top seed Ajay Malik in a marathon three-setter to win the boys' U-14 title on the concluding day of the Road to Wimbledon CLTA-AITA National Series Tennis Tournament held at the CLTA Complex, Sector 10, here on Saturday. Hooda won the first set 6-3, but Malik strived hard to draw parity with a 7-6(5) win in the second set. In decider, Hooda broke Malik in the third game and used his backhand game to perfection to seal the set 6-4. In the girls' singles final, Sandeepti Singh drubbed Priyanshi Sankesh 6-3 6-3 to lift the trophy.
