Jalandhar man drowns in swimming pool

ZIRAKPUR:A 35-year-old man drowned in a swimming pool at Aura Vaseela Resort near Zirakpur here today.

A 35-year-old man drowned in a swimming pool at Aura Vaseela Resort near Zirakpur here today. According to sources, the deceased has been identified as Shivaik Bajaj, a resident of Jalandhar.

The incident took place around 10 am when Shivaik, along with his two family friends, Karan and Nihank, went to the swimming pool.

Shivaik did not know how to swim and was not aware of the depth of the pool. He might have slipped and drowned, the sources said.

The victim was brought out of the pool by his friends and rushed to the GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh, where doctors declared him brought dead.

On a complaint of the victim’s wife, Pallavi Bajaj, inquest proceedings have been initiated at the Sohana police station.

The body was handed over to the family members after a postmortem at the GMCH. The sources said Shivaik was a businesman and had come to Chandigarh with his wife and two friends.
