Kangra, March 27
As many as 200 women farmers took part in an experience-sharing workshop organised by the Chinmaya Organisation for the Rural Development (CORD) at Tapovan yesterday. Narender Paul, chief operating officer, CORD, said 200 women farmers associated with the Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana (MKSP) participated in the programme.
Dr Ripon Sood, project direct, Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), was the chief guest of the function. He appreciated the efforts of the CORD MKSP team in organising this programme which aimed at socio-economic development of rural women farmers.
Dr Vishal Dogra, senior vegetable expert, and Dr Deep Kumar, agronomist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kangra, also spoke on the occasion.
On the occasion, women farmers held an exhibition of vegetables, grains, pulses and oil seeds.
Experts evaluated the exhibition by the women farmers and the Jassour panchayat bagged the first prize followed by Lakha Manadal, Muhalkar Chahri, Jheol and Bhuner. Programme coordinator Dr Bihari Lal Kapur briefed about the activities being undertaken through the project.
Paul said the CORD was implementing the MKSP, a sub–component of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NLRM) in Kangra district with the Ministry of Rural Development. He said this programme was working to cover 2,500 women farmers in Nagrota Bagwan and the Dharamsala development blocks in Kangra district over three years of the project period culminating in March next year.
