The Mohali police claim to have worked out some snatching cases with the arrest of two motorcycle-borne snatchers from the Kharar area here.

Those arrested are Lovepreet Singh, alias Lovely (18), and Lovepreet Singh, alias Kaka (20), both residents of Peer Sohana village here. The police have recovered a Splendor motorcycle (PB 65 AC 9426), two gold chains, gold and silver ornaments, purses, cash and mobile phones from their possession.

Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the snatchers were arrested on a tip-off.

“Lovely, who left studies after he failed in Class VIII, used to work at a grocery shop while Kaka, a matric fail, was working with a private factory in Mohali. To make a quick buck, both youngsters entered the world of crime around five months ago and started snatching purses, gold chains and mobile phones from women,” said the SSP.

The accused were produced before the court, which remanded them in police custody for two days.
