Kaithal Jail inmates assault arrested ASI
Kaithal, July 15
Kaithal ASI Ram Mehar who was arrested by the State Vigilance Bureau while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 on Tuesday was injured when he was attacked by some jail inmates yesterday.
He was admitted to the Kaithal Civil Hospital. On a complaint lodged by the Deputy Superintendent of Kaithal jail , a case against unidentified jail inmates has been registered. Mehar’s condition is reportedly stable.
Sources said some inmates called Mehar at the barrack and allegedly put a blanket on him to impair his visibility and hacked at him causing injuries in the head.
The jail administration has launched an investigation to identify those involved in the assault and to find the sharp article used by them. —OC
