Chandigarh, December 27
Three days after BSP councillor Jannat Jahan Ul-Haq levelled allegations of assault against Kalka MLA Latika Sharma’s son, the MLA today held a press conference and refuted all allegations. In turn, she accused Jannat’s husband of sexually harassing a girl at a party at Hotel Bella Vista, Sector 5, Panchkula, on December 24.
Jannat, meanwhile, refuted all allegations and said how come after three days, the girl suddenly realised that she was sexually harassed.
Addressing a press conference here, the MLA said the BSP councillor was dragging her into a controversy to gain political mileage. “My family had gone there to attend a Sufi nite. My son did not assault the BSP councillor,” Latika said.
Latika said she had left the hotel and her son, along with his family, was having dinner when the incident took place. “Unaware of what had happened, my son and his family left the hotel,” she said.
Latika said on enquiring about the incident after the BSP councillor leveled allegations against her son, she found that Jannat’s husband had sexually harassed a girl who had also gone to attend the party. “Jannat’s husband passed lewd remarks against the girl and even tried to touch her,” Latika alleged.
The victim, who is a friend of the MLA’s son, was also present during the press conference.
The BSP councillor said, “On the day of the incident, the girl had given a complaint that my husband had passed abusive remarks against her. Now, after three days, she has come up with another allegation. The allegations levelled by the girl do not hold any truth as she is changing her statements.”
