The Language and Culture Department organised a kavi sammelan at Dev Sadan here today.
District Public Relations Officer Sher Singh Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion. He said such programmes were helpful in maintaining healthy relations with the litterateurs and the media and both highlighted various issues of society.
Promila Guleria, District Language Officer (DLO), Kullu, said every year the department organised a kavi sammelan near Holi, especially for media personnel. She said such programmes promoted our rich literary history and provided a platform for the youth to show their talent.
Satyapal Bhatnagar, Jaidev Vidrohi, Suman Priya Sikka, Durga Prasad Rao, NG Bodh, Ishwar Dass Sharma, Inder Dev Sharma, Sarla Chambial, Indu Patiyal, Sonia, Himani, Deepak Kullvi, Ravinder Panwar and others delivered compositions in Hindi and Pahari languages.
Satyapal Bhatnagar took a dig on fellow poets and friends by his hilarious compositions. Somlata presented a satire on the relations of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. Audience lauded the presentation of Suman Priya Sikka. Durga Prasad Rao entertained the audience with his unique style of oration. NG Bodh presented an incident with a female in a hilarious verse style. Ravinder Panwar drew a loud applause for his composition “Ek Shaam Holi Si”. Mandeep Sharma sarcastically presented the condition of politicians in his poem “Rajneeti Mein Swachhta Abhiyaan”.
The DLO thanked all the participants of the sammelan and appealed to them to show such enthusiasm in future events to be held by the department for promotion of language and culture of the hill state. Press and media personnel, besides poets, were present during the programme.
