Rohtak, December 5
Congress MP from Rohtak Deepender Singh Hooda said today Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was trying to mislead the people of the state about the Rohtak-Meham-Hansi railway line project. The MP has also written an open letter to the CM in this regard.
“I recently read the CM’s statement in newspapers, in which he said he had been unable to find the Rohtak-Meham-Hansi railway line or even the files pertaining to it. I am astonished. I want to present the progress report and current status of the project,” Deepender said while addressing a news conference here today.
The MP also furnished copies of a letter received from Northern Railway GM AK Puthia, in which the official said the work on the Rohtak-Meham-Hansi rail line was sanctioned in 2012-13 on 50-50 cost-sharing basis between the Centre and the Haryana Government.
“The state government had to provide the land for the construction of the new rail line free of cost to the Railways. Over 900 acres were supposed to be acquired by the state government for the purpose,” the letter maintains.
It further states the notices under Section IV and Section VI of the Land Acquisition Act had been issued on December 12, 2013, and June 26, 2014, respectively. The Railways have already prepared a detailed estimate of Rs 577 crore, but the state government is yet to provide the land, it adds.
