Muktsar, February 27
Anand Sagar Sharma, former Gidderbaha SDM, who has been booked by the Vigilance Bureau in a multi-crore land scam in Hoshiarpur, has sought permission from the Chief Secretary to avail leave for a month.
In his application, Anand has cited domestic issues and unforeseen circumstances as reasons for seeking the leave.
Sources said the PCS officer had stated in the application that his postal address during the leave, if granted, would remain his permanent residence address in Patiala.
The sources said the leave had been sought from February 27 to March 27. Anand had not been coming to office since February 10, when he was booked. His anticipatory bail application was dismissed by the Additional Sessions Judge, Ludhiana, on February 23.
In his absence, the EC has relieved him from the charge of Returning Officer (RO) of the Gidderbaha Assembly segment.
