The announcement has brought a sigh of relief among the traders.
Ashok Kumar Juneja, president and BR Kaushal, secretary general, Punjab Tax Practitioners Association (PTPA), said the date has been extended by the ETC, Rajat Aggarwal, considering the representation of the PTPA, DTBA (Sales Tax) Ludhiana, other various Bar Associations, Punjab Pardesh BeoparMandal, CICU and other industrial and trade organisations of Punjab keeping in view festival days as well.
“We made a representation to the Excise and Taxation Commissioner and it has been accepted. Now, everybody can file return after getting free from the festival,” said Juneja.
Tarsem Garg, a trader, further added that he was worried as the last date of filing the return was approaching and everybody was busy in the festivities. “Now, I can file the return after the festival is over,” he said.
