Taking cognizance of lack of civic facilities at Swargashram nagar panchayat, SDM Singh said that the process is on to earmark the garbage disposal dumping site and solid waste treatment plant.

While new public toilets would also be constructed, those existing at inappropriate places will be shifted to convenient places.

Seeking cooperation from the local representatives and delegates, the SDM said the Pauri Garhwal District Magistrate was quite concerned about the problems of Swargashram residents and this meeting was called on his directive.

Executive officer of Swargashram-Jaunk Nagar Panchayat Badri Prasad Bhatt urged people and traders to collect garbage and put it in civic body-run garbage disposal vehicles only.

Badri Prasad Bhatt said that this would pave the way for making Swargashram-Jaunk a beautiful place, as here lakhs of pilgrims, tourists, saints and yoga practitioners arrive on the holy Ganga ghat.

Badri Prasad Bhatt said till date just Rs 30 nominal monthly charge was being taken from the local residents and Rs 50 from traders under this garbage collection disposal system.

Station House Officer Laxman Jhoola, Amarjeet Singh, Dev Bhoomi Uttaranchal Udyog Vyapar Mandal general secretary Indra Prakash Aggarwal, Swargashram Vyapar Mandal president Narayan Prasad Rawat, Zero Waste Organisation delegate Piyush Dangwal, Himanshu Patwal, Vinit Thakur, Parmarth Niketan project director Ram Mahesh Mishra, Taxi Union Laxman Jhoola president Bhagat Singh Payal, Devendra Singh Rana, Manish Rajput, councillors Gajendra Nagar, Shakumbari Devi, Mahaveer Negi and BJP divisional president Bharat Lal, Congress leader Vanshi Nautiyal, hotel union delegates Sachin Chopra along with local people of Swargashram-Laxman Jhoola-Jaunk were present at the meeting.
