The matter came to light when Dr Abraham G Thomas, Director, Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), wrote to the Municipal Commissioner to eliminate danger to human lives by taking steps at Rakh Bagh.

According to information, Angush, along with his two friends, visited Rakh Bagh in the evening on July 28. While roaming in the garden, Angush came in contact with the track of the toy train. Owing to the ongoing rainy season, there was current running in the track. Angush suffered severe shock and fell on the ground. His friends took him to the CMCH.

In his letter to the Municipal Commissioner, Dr Thomas has said Angush was resuscitated after two hours of cardiac arrest in the hospital. He is undergoing specialised care and is on ventilator in Intensive Care Unit with guarded prognosis. There was a great danger of getting electrocuted on the rail line of the toy train because of DC current flowing between the centre plate in between the rails, especially in the rainy season, he adds. “One of our first year medical students suffered major shock last evening in Rakh Bagh and was brought to the hospital in an unconscious and pulseless condition. I would request the authorities to take steps to barricade the rail line to prevent further mishaps,” said Dr Thomas.
