The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan today laid the foundation stone of Panchayat Bhawan at Humhama near here.
The Panchayat Bhawan-cum-Common Facilitation Centre (CFC) is being constructed at a cost of Rs 9.88 crore. The new Panchayat Bhawan is a part of the ‘CFC in every Constituency’ programme launched by the minister earlier this year.
After laying the foundation stone of the Common Facilitation Centre, Khan directed the construction agency, Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC), to start the work immediately so that the project was completed within the stipulated time.
The three-storey Common Facilitation Centre building will include a convention hall, two VIP rooms, eight guest rooms, pantry and a dining hall, besides car parking facility on the premises.
The minister said the construction done by the government should become an asset, which can be used by our future generations. “The Common Facilitation Centres serve as the multipurpose assets and are beneficial for the people in catering their larger needs,” Khan said.
