A master plan will be prepared for Lahaul and Spiti so as to ensure planned and systematic development of the tribal district, Urban Development and Town and Country Planning Minister Sudhir Sharma said here today. The emphasis would be on promoting adventure tourism and strengthening key sectors like roads, agriculture, horticulture and water supply schemes, he said while talking to the delegation of Lahaul and Spiti district led by MLA Ravi Thakur, which called upon him at Mandi today.
Thakur demanded that a master plan should be prepared for the development of the district. He said the tunnel being constructed under the Rohtang Pass would ensure all-weather connectivity to the district. This would make growth possible at most of the areas.
Sudhir Sharma said the work on strategically important Rohtang tunnel would be completed in two years. This would help in promoting tourism and allied activities in the district. The tunnel would open new vistas of development in Lahaul and Spiti.
The focus would be on development of more populated areas like Udaipur, Kaza and district headquarters Keylong so that people there get better basic amenities.
