A mock exercise was organised at Lal Kuan near Dehradun here on Wednesday to assess the preparedness of the railway station employees and officials. Simulators such as a dummy of a train accident was set up for the exercise.

At 3 pm, the officials concerned were informed that a train (00914 Lal Kuan- Chennai) had gone off track and around 17 passengers were injured. On receiving the information, employees were put on alert. A medical team and members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were deployed to deal with the situation.

The mock exercise was conducted at the directives of Izzatnagar Divisional Manager Nikhil Pandey. He said along with assessing preparedness of railway staff, the exercise also tried to bring multiple agencies to ensure there was complete coordination.
