Modern School, Delhi, win chess tourney

Modern School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi, won the Doon School Chess Tournament played at the Kilachand Library of The Doon School here today. Eighteen school teams from Delhi, Jaipur, Nainital and Dehradun participated in the tournament.

This year’s tournament witnessed a very high quality of chess performance. Twenty-four renowned players took part in the tournament. Headmaster Matthew Raggett gave away trophies and mementoes to the participating teams.

Modern School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi won the tournament with 15.5 points. (Kabir Sachdeva, Vardaan Nagpal, Yatin Agarwal and Garv Rai were the team members).

Sanskriti School, New Delhi with 14 points was declared the 1st runner-up.

(The team members were: Kautil Kakumanu, Kunal Kakumanu, Ananya Upadhayaya and Saumit Sharma)

The Doon School A-team was declared the second runner-up with 13.5 points.

(Atharva Shukla, Raghav Bagri, Anuman Goel and Aryan Kasera were the team members).

The Shri Ram School and Vasant Valley School from Delhi; Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ School from Jaipur; Birla Vidya Mandir from Nainital and RIMC, Welham Girls’ School, Welham Boys’ School, St. Joseph’s Academy, Scholars Home, Cambrian Hall, Kasiga School, Ann Mary School, Brightlands School, Carman School Dalanwala and The Doon School-B team took part in the tournament.
